flipped the doorknob quickly, but it wouldn't budge. "{Darn it!", I exclaimed. Stuck outside my own apartment – what a terrible situation! My keys are clearly lost somewhere, and I have {no{ clue how to get back in. This is going to be a painful day.

My breath fogs/steams/condenses the inside of the car. It's getting cold/chilly/uncomfortably cool. The engine is quietly humming/steadily running/making a soft growl, a constant reminder of my confinement/imprisonment/entrapment. The radio plays static/mumbles faintly/is silent.

Ugh, this is the absolute worst day ever. I just scanned my purse like a hundred times and my car keys are gone. I've scoured the entire place, but they're just not visible.
